Milky Way commercial:

We see how a young woman says "Good night, Neil" and shuts the door right in front of him without kissing good-night. Clearly, a first-date failure.

Then he gets into his car, and gets out a Milky Way. There is a doll-sized French woman telling him how manly he is.

And the slogan? "Comfort in every bar".

I suppose, it was meant to be understood that way... Or am I the only one to think that "bar" is the place where you buy (alcoholic?) drinks...?

It is meant to be understood that way. I think "bar" here means "a piece of candy", as in "a Milky Way bar".

I was actually struck by the way the commercial reinforces of attending to your feelings by eating chocolate.

I'd be rather struck by alcoholism propaganda ;))) If it weren't meant to have a double-sense, it's even funnier.

You must be aware of the classic translation joke:
